To the Editor.
We conducted a study similar to the one discussed in a recent article in Pediatrics (1986;78:1007-1012). The study consisted of 19 children with chronic renal failure who were followed by the Division of Nephrology at Schneider Children's Hospital. We used linear plots of the inverse serum creatinine concentration v time to predict when dialysis or transplantation would be required. The causes of chronic renal failure included acquired glomerulopathy in nine children (47%), hypoplastic or dysplastic kidneys in six (32%), and reflux nephropathy in four (21%).
