To the Editor.—

The article by Rogers et al1 concerning AIDS in children draws attention to important epidemiologic and prognostic issues. As of Aug 1, 1987, the number of affected children reached 720—558 from the United States and 58 from Europe. However, the studies on vertically infected infants reviewed by me2-6 indicate that the incubation period of AIDS in such infants varies between 22 and 12 months.5 Rogers et al state that the incubation is 1 to 86 months.
