and retinopathy of prematurity, I would like to share information on this subject from our nursery population. The incidence of retinopathy was evaluated retrospectively in a group of 288 preterm newborns during a 7-year period (1975 to 1982) in relationship to birth weight and transcutaneous oxygen monitoring. Of 57 babies with birth weights <1,000 g, 3.5% had cicatricial retinopathy of prematurity and 15% had proliferative disease.
