Wrong Dose Warning

CHARLES R. FIKAR MD1

1 153 Liberty St, Deer Park, NY 11729

To the Editor.—

I wish to bring to attention a potentially serious error appearing in Dr Hoekelman's recently published textbook.1 The concentration recommended for intracardiac epinephrine is 1:1,000, but the usually recommended concentration is 1:10,000.2 Diluting the 1:1,000 epinephrine may avoid complicating ventricular arrhythmias.
