Dr Pascoe's statistical analysis of the small numbers of nosocomial infections is one with which I agree. It is for precisely his reasons that intravascular catheter tip colonization was studied using this as another marker of nosocomial infection. This additional information provided another support for the argument that overgown use did not affect the incidence of device-related colonization or infection.
