The biochemical data reported by Honour, Price, and Grant from their publication in 1984 is of interest, and we regret that we did not include it in our review due to overlapping submission and publication dates. They have added 12 additional cases of virilizing tumors to the literature with the very important demonstration of bio-chemical heterogeneity in the secretion and serum analysis of the hormones produced. Their point that serum dehydroepiandrosterone and testosterone levels may not define the steroidogenic potential of a specific tumor is useful knowledge, and we agree that additional androgens should be evaluated by newer techniques if these two assays are not diagnostic.
