Leukemia and Hemophilia

In Reply.—

As far as we know, previous data on the incidence of malignancies in hemophiliacs are lacking; nevertheless, we quite agree with the iemark of Altay et al1 that malignancies in hemophiliacs should be reported for future evaluation of their frequency.

Regarding our patient,2 we believe that his lymphoma occurred in the setting of AIDS. This is supported by our retrospective finding of his being seropositive for HTLV-III antibodies, by Western blot technique, on several occasions since 1982.
