We welcome the letter from Dr Berg of the American Occupational Therapy Association and agree with many of his comments. Our Committee believes that the treatment of children with disabilities in schools should be a team effort involving educators, therapists, physicians, and professionals from other disciplines. We clearly recognize a significant role for occupational therapists in this regard as specified in PL 94-142, The Education for All Handicapped Children Act.
We believe that many children with mild degrees of motor dysfunction show some improvement with maturation.
