We do not believe that our recent study was mistitled. The difference between patients who have 5% or more weight loss compared with those who have less than 5% weight loss (minimal dehydration) as a result of diarrhea is that the former patients have clinically visible signs of dehydration and require a larger volume of fluids to replace their deficit. Patients with minimal dehydration have no clinical signs of dehydration and require a smaller volume of replacement fluids.
