To the Editor.
Guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics for injury prevention state that "physicians caring for children should counsel parents in age-appropriate, season-appropriate, locality-appropriate strategies which reduce common serious injuries".1 In keeping with this philosophy, many pediatricians educate parents about foods that may be unsafe for their child at a given age. Yet, there seems to be a substantial number of caretakers whom we obviously have not reached, judging by my observations of travelers feeding peanuts to toddlers on airplanes.
