The letter from Meyers and Spivak is disheartening: its vituperative tone suggests that they really believe what they are saying. They question the author's right to criticize the Massachusetts Nutrition Survey because it is "unpublished in the medical literature and...inaccesible...." I would hate to have to hold my breath until it appeared in a serious peer-reviewed journal and I dare say that, having been released with great fanfare via press conference to the national media, many more pediatricians (and legislators and ordinary citizens) will have heard its claims than will ever read this correspondence.
