TIPP-The Injury Prevention Program, inaugurated by the American Academy of Pediatrics in April 1983, is gaining acceptance by pediatricians as an essential aspect of the care they provide their patients.

The major aim of TIPP is to give parents the impetus to acquire for their children the protection afforded by: (1) child car restraints, (2) smoke detectors, (3) safe hot water temperatures at the tap, (4) window and stairway guards/gates, and (5) a 1-oz bottle of Syrup of Ipecac.
