To the Editor.
We were interested in the article by Kronick and colleagues on a penimortem protocol for suspected genetic disease.1 They have emphasized the collection of specific body fluids and tissue samples. In 1981, Opitz2 outlined methods for study of a dysmorphic stillborn infant that would be appropriate for a teaching hospital. In San Luis Obispo County, we have several community hospitals that provide care for virtually all newborn infants, and we have recently adopted a protocol for the local evaluation of infants and stillborns with genetic-dysmorphic concerns.
