To the Editor.
Rimsza and Berg1 described a child with amebic liver abscess and vulvar skin lesion which they attributed to ameba. Although there is no doubt the child had amebic liver abscess, it is not certain that the vulvar lesion was due to this microorganism. It is not clear whether proper anaerobic cultures were done to isolate these pathogens from the skin lesionand the statement that no pathogens were recovered is insufficient. Indeed when proper anaerobic cultures are done, anaerobic organisms are frequently isolated from vulvovaginal lesions in children.2
