Aminocentesis detected 15 fetuses with trisomy 18 or 21 during a three-year period. Of the 15 families, 14 elected to terminate the pregnancy; 12 of the 15 families responded to a questionnaire that explored the various psychosocial aspects and the effectiveness of genetic counseling associated with their decisions.
