Pediatricians and Child Day Care Programs

Albert Chang MD, MPH1 and Richard O'Neill MD2

2 Alternate Chairman, California Chapter I, AAP

In 1966, Scurletis et al1 surveyed the attitudes of North Carolina pediatricians toward child day care and found a concentration of interest in the individual child's health rather than on the community health needs and problems in day care. It seemed to us opportune, in 1976, to determine (1) the extent of involvement of pediatricians in day care, (2) their attitudes toward day care placement of infants and children, and (3) their recommendations for the improvement of the health components in day care.
