Does Race Influence Blood Pressure and Bacteriuria?

The article by Etkin and O'Shea regarding correlations between bacteriuria in school-age girls and symptoms, patient history, and family history (Pediatrics 62:844, 1978) suggests that the discovery of bacteruria "...might ultimately be useful in identifying families at especially high risk for hypertension...." Before considering the usefulness of this method of identification it would be important to examine the source of the suggestion. The authors compared the results of parent questionnaires asking personal medical history between two groups:
