Febrile Seizures
1 Department of Pediatrics, Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, University of Maryland, Baltimore MD 21215
We read and thoroughly discussed the report by Wolf et al (Pediatrics 59:378, March 1977) and wish to commend these authors for their well-planned study and the wealth of data that it generated. However, there are several serious limitations in the usefulness of their results.
While the authors identify the "major influence on pediatric practice" that has resulted from Livingston's recommendation1 to distinguish a simple febrile seizure from a seizure with fever, they fail to make this distinction when analyzing their data.
