We wish to apologize if we have offended our academic colleagues at the University of Washington School of Medicine. I find, however, the harsh tone of their criticism unjustified.

We have received numerous inquiries for reprints of the article and requests for information regarding the availability of this technique for both investigational and clinical use. As a consequence, to save on expenses, we elected to include a one-page statement of pertinent data with each reprint. Furthermore, the expense of providing reprints, we believe, justifies the annotation "Compliments of."
