A Hypothesis About Late Walkers

Dr. Beargie, in his interesting comments on babies late to walk, concluded that this motor delay occurs because the children were kept in a crib and were unable to practice walking. He noted, however, that these children come from "a home that does not have central heating . . . [and] is heated by a coal stove . . .[and] the crib is placed near the heating stove."

When carbon is completely oxidized it will yield carbon dioxide and water.
