Comments on Breast Feeding: Second Thoughts

It was timely to read the article by Dr. John Gerrard on the proven immunological value of human milk.

In fact, similar review papers could also be written concerning anti-allergic, contraceptive, economic, emotional, and metabolic-nutritional advantages.

A major difficulty in keeping up with the flood of recent "hard" scientific data in this field is because these reports have been published in a wide spectrum of journals ranging, for example, from endocrinological to sociological to psychological and to those concerned with family planning, "tropical pediatrics," and economics.
