Reduction of Morning Stiffness and/or Pain Using a Sleeping Bag

Earl J. Brewer Jr. M.D.1

1 Rheumatology Service Texas Children's Hospital 6621 Fannin Houston, Texas 77025

The management of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis involves the use of many therapeutic modalities, each of which can be of significant help to the patient. When several therapeutic adjuncts are used that are somewhat helpful, the total result is often a patient who has achieved some relief of the pain and discomfort so often present.

One particular clinical manifestation that is troublesome to a large number of children with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis is inactivity stiffness and/or pain. The stiffness is particularly apparent in the morning after sleeping all night.
