I read with interest the paper by Tingelstad et al. which appeared in the July 1974 issue of Pediatrics. However, as far as the diagnosis of congenital heart disease is concerned, I am in the dark. After cardiac evaluation a diagnosis of mitral atresia, a single ventricle and corrected transposition was made.
A single ventricle by definition means the presence of only one ventricle receiving two atrioventricular valves. Mitral and tricuspid atresia are thus excluded.2, 4
