Comments and Questions on the Neurotoxicity of Hexachlorophene

The following comments are offered in response to the recent article by Shuman et al. in Pediatrics.1

The selection of the population is biased since it is not a representative sample. Over 165 cases with unknown pathology were excluded. Consequently, the histopathology was not representative of the overall experience. Furthermore more, information from the same institution by Alden et al.2 is significant. This paper describes the fate of the infants born at the University Hospital in Seattle.
