Photodistribution of Viral Exanthems

James D. Cherry M.D.1

1 Department of Pediatrics, UCLA Center for the Health Sciences Los Angeles, California 90042

The recent paper on photodistribution of viral exanthems1 was of great interest to me and has stimulated the following comments.

1. Figures 1 and 2 are apparently reversed and the reference to viral size on the same page is off by a factor of 1,000.

2. A quick review of the literature on echo 9 viral exanthems reveals one patient whose rash was confined to areas of sunburn; after exposure to the sun it became much brighter in color.2
