WHO INVENTED THE ICE CREAM CONE?

1 The Great American Ice Cream Book

On April 28, 1954, the pooh-bahs of the cone and ice cream industries assembled in St. Louis to celebrate the golden anniversary of the ice cream cone. Under the sponsorship of the International Association of Ice Cream Manufactuners IAICM), the two-day celebration/convention was held at the Chase Hotel, built atop the very spot where the Association had determined that the first cone had been made.

It was a festive affair honoring the late Ernest A. Hamwi, a Syrian who had come to St. Louis from Damascus in 1903. Based on the IAICM's investigations, the birth of the cone goes like this.
