Another Method for Changing U. A. Catheters

In regard to the article by Michael Heymann in the Januany issue1 we have the following comments:

We have had the opportunity of changing arterial catheters in our intensive care unit over the last 1frac12 years in well over two dozen cases and we did this by the following procedure:

The change is done by two persons—one withdrawing the catheter and the other ready with the new catheter to be inverted. Usually the umbilical cord and artery will be molded around the catheter.
