The article entitled "Fever and Petechiae With Adenovirus Infection" by Sahler and Wilfert in the February 1974 issue of Pediatrics is most interesting, but contains one aspect which I should like to comment on. The inference is made that the petechiae seen on this child's body were the result of the adenovirus infection which is well established. I would suggest that the petechiae might have been caused by the Valsalva maneuver which so commonly follows either coughing or vomiting in children.
