Repeat Lumbar Punctures in the Diagnosis of Meningitis

Richard H. Rapkin M.D.1

1 Departments of Pediactrics, New Jersey Medical School and Children's Hospital of Newark

Although not proven, these cases suggest that sepsis should be evaluated aggressively by repeat LPs in order to make the diagnosis of meningitis. This will allow timely appropriate therapy to be instituted.
