The Art of (Ambulatory) Pediatrics

Despite commentaries by two distinguished pediatricians on the article by Duff et al.,1-3 I cannot resist the urge to emphasize certain points only alluded to. Granted that complexities and frustrations of patient care exist in the modern pediatric clinic, are we in our zeal to pursue the science neglecting to teach the art of pediatrics?

Though many years have passed, I retain a mental imprinting of an entire lecture by Dr. Kenneth D. Blackfan devoted to the examination of infants and children.
