Multidisciplinary Team Consultation In Day Care

William B. Henry M.D.1

1 2900 Main Street, Glastonbury, Connecticut 06033

From 1970 to 1972 I had the opportunity to participate as a pediatrician in a community funded demonstration project to test the possible effectiveness of a truly integrated team approach in bringing to bear the knowledge of six specialists upon two representative day care centers. One of these day care centers served a suburban community and the other an inner city population. The other specialists were a master teacher, Doris Sharpe, M.A.; a social worker, Iris E. Wolfson, M.S.W.; a nutritionist, Rhea Lawton, B.S.; a public health nurse, Ruth D. Abbott, R.N., M.S.; and a child psychiatrist, Paul N. Graffagnino, M.D. The latter also served as chairman of the pool.
