Neonatal Blood Loss as a Complication of Fetal Monitoring

A case of significant fetal bleeding secondary to scalp arterial laceration from an implanted monitoring electrode is presented. This case suggests that routine surveillance for unsuspected fetal bleeding due to electrode implantation might be useful, particularly following emergency obstetrical procedures.
