Not even this excellent letter could include mention of everything for which the Washburns were memorable. One would like to note a single omission: Al's delight in Nature, and the reflections of that delight which illuminated his Annual Reports on the work of his Child Research Council. These writings were composed on special outings into the mountains, where he always seemed to find perfect mornings for observation and reflection. Increasingly he shared these reports with a widening circle of appreciative friends.
