The increasing incidence of drug abuse has caused considerable concern among health professional groups, but the potential biologic hazards of pleasure giving drugs are poorly defined because of the very limited reliable clinical and laboratory data available. This paucity of information also applies to the role of psychotropic and addicting drugs as teratogenic agents. Chromosomal and congenital defects have recently been associated with LSD,l,2 but no consistent anatomic findings have been found in infants born to opiate-addicted mothers.3,4
