In summary, we have reviewed briefly the pediatric uses of the more common radionuclide examination, and have noted the dose absorbed as related to both the age of the patient in µCi on mCi administered. In general the relatively low doses involved and the ease of the examination makes the radionuclide scan useful as a general survey examination in many conditions. In other circumstances, when justified by the clinical situation, it may prove of great benefit in differential diagnosis or in planning therapy and evaluating its results. To some degree, we have attempted to indicate to the clinician, in certain specific instances, when these examinations are most useful.
