Rubeola and Rubella

I would like to respond to Dr. Lewak's letter1 concerning the "nibeola-rubella" confusion. This problem is not limited only to the layman. Dr. Miriam G. Wilson and I began a surveillance program of possible fetal sequelae after inadvertent rubella vaccine administration to women shortly before or early in pregnancy.* Our preliminary findings will be published soon (J.A.M.A., in press). A surprising finding among the first 29 mothers was that two of them, in fact, received rubeola vaccine early in pregnancy!
