What is and what should be the pediatrician's role in marijuana use by young people? While the easy way would be to say that this is none of our business, our own position, based upon the philosophy of the American Academy of Pediatrics, "for the welfare of children" is that we do have a role. Our patients and their parents are affectedsometimes (but who knows how often?) adversely. We believe that we should assume the role of doing what we can with today's knowledge and of seeking to fill in the gaps with new knowledge. Some of this knowledge is presented in this issue of Pediatrics.
