Care by Parent: Further Advantages

The article, "The Care by Parent Unit," by Vernon James and Warren Wheeler, and Morris Green's Editorial Comment on the "The Parent Care Pavilion" (Pediatrics 43:486, 1969) indicate a trend based on realistic resolution of some of the problems inherent in hospitalization of children. It seems to us appalling that children's hospitals should be so slow in recognizing the potential advantages, both economic and psychologic, of a "live-in" plan for parents.

Hospitalization and surgery in childhood always involves psychological stresses.
