Does Imipramine (Tofranil) cause Oral Bleeding?

In the recent literature describing the use of imipramine hydrochloride (Tofranil) for enuresis in children, I have never seen any reference to gingivitis or bleeding as a side effect to this drug. The Physicians Desk Reference and the package inserts from the manufacturer describe dryness of the mouth but no other side effects referable to the oral mucous membrane. This letter concerns a child in whom I feel that such a side effect occurred. The patient, a 7-year-old female, has been enuretic since birth.
