An infant is reported with malabsorption of actively transported monosaccharides; she presented with profound diarrhea and severe dehydration. Her course was complicated by the development of monilial arthritis. The failure to absorb glucose was demonstrated over a 24-month follow-up period. A glucose-galactose free, fructose diet appeared to be lifesaving. The monilial arthritis responded to intra-articular doses of amphotericin B and unusually low doses of intravenous therapy.
