The appearance of new editions of both these synopses of pediatrics must mean that they fill a need in the education of the medical student and practitioner. Perhaps, as textbooks become larger and more expensive and as time for leisurely reading for most of us becomes increasingly hard to find, books such as these which attempt to assemble in a tidy fashion the relevant facts the pediatrician needs to know will continue to be read by an everwidening number of readers.
