Letters to the Editor

HENRIETTA L. MARQUIS M.D.

I would like to comment on a letter of Dr. R. A. Norton, published in the March 1967 issue of Pediatrics, wherein he states that he finds Pediatrics almost useless to a man in private practice.

My training is such that I am not "board eligible," but I have been active in pediatrics since 1940. I know there are many physicians in the same situation. I practice in a state that suffers from insufficient pediatric manpower, and I am associated with a hospital that has one of the few approved pediatric resident training programs in our state. Successful clinical practice is based on the thorough knowledge of the basic sciences.
