SYSTEMIC INFECTION WITH SALMONELLA ANATUM

Report of First Case

A case of Salmonella anatum septicemia in an infant is presented. It is believed that this is the first recorded instance of this systemic infection in man.

The clinical features, laboratory studies on the isolated organism, and the available epidemiologic data on the organism, Salmonella anatum, are discussed briefly.
