Having written recently to agree with Dr. Nadas on a controversial subject, I feel less qualms about disagreeing with some of his observations expressed in the editorial in the January Pediatrics. Although Dr. Nadas implied criticism of the use of numbers by the Michigan group, he omitted any figure for the combined mortality of his surgical group for banding of the pulmonary artery plus the ultimate repair with open-heart techniques. If it is less than the 20% which Dr. Sigmann reported for complete repair during infancy, it would be surprising.
