In spite of celebrating his seventy-fifth birthday two years ago, the eminent German pediatric historian, Albrecht Peiper, continues his work with youthful vigor. Last year he published the fourth edition of his classic Chronik der Kinderheilkunde and now comes this little historical gem. After a brief introduction summarizing his reasons for selecting certain of the most important basic works in pediatrics, he begins with the Egyptian Incantations for Mother and Child, a pediatric text of the sixteenth century B.C. as translated by Erman in 1901.
