Letters to the Editor

PHILIP C. DANUFSKY M.D.

Dr. Silverman's Commentary on informed consent (Pediatrics, 38:373, 1966) set me thinking so much I haven't finished reading the September issue. It seems, at last, our profession is examining its legal and moral responsibilities before political and community pressures interfere with clear thinking.

At present the minor's parents or guardians have full legal responsibility for furnishing consent for treatment and investigation; the law is not likely to change soon.
