Stokes-Adams attacks occurred in a 6-year-old boy weighing 18 kg with complete heart block. The arrhythmia persisted despite medical treatment. Internal pacing of the heart was instituted by the insertion of an indwelling pacing catheter into the right ventricle. The catheter pacing system was maintained in place for 3 weeks, and its use was not followed by any complication. The patient made an uneventful and apparently complete recovery.
