The RBC C-14 cortisol uptake was measured in a group of normal adults, mothers at term, cord blood, and two to three day old infants. The variations observed with the technique are consistent with the observations of an elevated cortisol-binding globulin capacity in mothers at term. The results obtained are consistent as well with data suggesting a depression in cortisolbinding globulin capacity in the neonate.
