Disease in Infancy and Childhood, ed. 5, by Richard W. B. Ellis, M.D., and Ross G. Mitchell, M.D. Baltimore: The Williams & Wilkins Company, 1965, 712 pp., $14.50

Thomas E. Cone Jr. M.D.

In 1951 Professor Ellis of Edinburgh published the first edition of his popular and respected introduction to clinical pediatrics. Now, 14 years and four editions later a new edition appears under dual authorship for the first time. Professor Ross Mitchell of Aberdeen now shares responsibility for the text.

In reading through this new edition no marked changes are found. The order of contents follows the excellent arrangement of the past editions. There are minor alterations such as removing the discussion of diabetes mellitus from the chapter on disorders of growth and development and placing it more correctly in the chapter concerned with disorders of metabolism and storage.
