CORRECCIÓN

El Dr. Coleman está en lo cierto al afirmar que en el trabajo de los Dres. Scriver y Davies (Pediatrics, 36:592, 1965) el término "ion exchange" ha sido traducido incorrectamente. El traductor seguramente pensó en inglés al traducir este resumen, pues en inglés "ion" e "iron" tienen similar apariencia y con frecuencia inclusive se pronuncian de igual manera. En castellano sin embargo, las dos palabras no tan solo tienen significados diferentes, sino que se escriben de manera completamente distinta: "ion" es lo mismo en ambos idiomas, mientras que el término castellano para "iron" es hierro.

El traductor por lo tanto debió haber escrito: "resina para el intercambio iónico" o bien "resina de intercambio iónico."
